Arrival and Dismissal
For your child's safety, please do not drop off your child before 7:00 a.m. unless they are enrolled in before care. School staff is not on duty to supervise students before 7:00 a.m.
Dismissal begins at 2:35 p.m.
Bus Riders are picked up by a staff member from each classroom and dismissed through the front doors.
Students who arrive at school by car and are picked up in a car are considered car riders. When car riders' names are called, they are dismissed from the school and are escorted to their cars.
Students who walk to school are considered either Neighborhood or Park Walkers. Neighborhood walkers are dismissed at the Stop Sign on 117th E. Place and E 2nd Place.
For safety reasons, parents can not park alongside the corner Stop Signs or park alongside the street and/or block the crosswalk. Parents can not regularly pick up their students from the Teachers’ Parking Lot (except on rainy days). Campus Police will be notified if a parent refuses to adhere to this Kerr policy.
Park walkers are dismissed from the side doors of the school building closest to the park. It is suggested that parents walk to the side door to pick up their children to walk home. Students will not be dismissed to the park to wait for anyone or play at the park by a staff member.
No early dismissal before 2:00 p.m. Except for emergencies, parents should not regularly come to the office to pick up their children before 2:00 p.m. Students are still in the instructional day.
Transportation changes should be communicated to the office before dismissal.
RELEASING OF STUDENTS
Students will only be released to the parent/guardian listed on school forms. Any other adult requesting to pick up a student MUST be an approved person on file and must have a written request from the parent. In addition, the school follows all custody and court orders regarding the placement of students.
It is also against our policy to release children via telephone or to other siblings under the age of eighteen (18) years of age during school hours. Students must be signed out in the office by the parent or designee before leaving the school grounds. Identification will be required.
